If you want to establish your own business in the UK and you have proof of evidence to invest at least £200,000, you are eligible for the Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa. This visa type is valid, if you are coming from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. You should be at least 16 years’ old to apply. You are also required to finance yourself and your family while in the UK in terms of the visa. Finally, you have to collect 95 score points for the attributes section to demonstrate to the Home Office that you are eligible.
The attributes section consists of 3 main parts for gaining scores within the Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa. As long as you have £200,000 (25 points), are able to put the money in a Financial Institution (25 points) and the money is expendable in the UK (25 point), with a further representation of the English language proficiency (10 points) and ability to support and maintain yourself during your stay in the UK (10 points) - 95 points are scored.
English language level is required for application unless you are excused (minimum CEFR level B1). You can check the list of countries which do not require you to show proof of your English language proficiency.
Your initial application will grant you to stay for 3 years and 4 months as a beginning, after that you may extend your visa for an additional 3 years.
Initially you can establish your own business. You can also join an existing business or take over a running business in the UK. On the other hand, you cannot work and involve yourself with any other job which is not a part of your business.
No, your family can come with you under your visa.
Yes, of course. You and your partner need to apply for a Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa separately, however you can both share the same investment fund together to run your business. In order to achieve a successful result, each of you need to satisfy the application requirements.
You cannot use the same funds for different businesses and different teams, and can only invest the same operating funds in a single business.
